Baptism

A child is a precious gift from God. We welcome this child into our communion of faith as the waters of Baptism cleanse away original sin and bring the life of God into the child.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO HAVE YOUR CHILD BAPTIZED HERE:

  1. It is important that you are a registered member of our parish. You may register online here. Parish registration forms are also located in the entrance of the church
  2. Contact the priest or deacon whom you would like to Baptize your child. Priests and deacons who are assigned to our parish are listed on the website.
  3. If this is your first child to be Baptized or if it has been more than two years since your last child was Baptized, you may be asked to attend one of the Baptism preparation classes held in the parish on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
  4. Choose your Godparents. Both Godparents must be practicing Catholics.  If the Godparents are not registered parishioners of Christ the King, the Godparents will need to fill out the Certificate of Eligibility for Catholic Godparents.  Please print out and return to the parish office.
  5. Baptisms are usually held in the Mary, Queen of Peace Chapel, which accommodates approximately 40 people. Times for Baptisms depend upon the availability of the chapel and the schedule of the officiating priest or deacon.
  6. A Baptism candle and white Baptismal garment will be supplied by The Parish of Christ the King. If your child will be wearing a traditional white christening gown, the garment may simply be placed over the gown.
