Married Couples

The Parish of Christ the King is here to help you take the next step in your faith life in your vocation of Christian marriage. Regardless of where you are in life, Jesus is calling you to deeper communion with Himself in a life-giving relationship of faith and love. Jesus also calls us to live out our love for Him in our love for one another. This is especially true with married couples who embody the love of Christ in their sacrament of marriage.

The Parish of Christ the King offers a variety of ministries to help married couples grow in their discipleship and enrich their relationship. Here’s a sampling of some of these opportunities.

The Parish of Christ the King celebrates and promotes the vocation of Christian marriage by offering couples an opportunity to make an expression of Thanksgiving for their marriage before the parish community. We celebrate this prayerful renewal of vows at each Mass on the third Sunday of each month. Couples are invited to come together to that Mass and to come forward after Communion for the renewal of their vows. This meaningful experience is an opportunity not only for couples to remind themselves of the gift marriage is, but it is also an opportunity for the community to celebrate and prayerfully support them in their vocation. Mark your calendar now to join us on the third Sunday of the month and experience this beautiful opportunity to celebrate your marriage.

Retrouvaille is a Christian peer ministry, Catholic in origin, that provides a lifeline for troubled marriages. It is open to all couples regardless of religious background. Retrouvaille is a three phase program, beginning with a weekend experience, followed by six follow-up sessions and finally a support group called CORE. The program is held twice a year with the weekend portion at a local hotel and follow-up sessions at the Parish of Christ the King on Sundays from 1:00-5:00 PM for the following six weeks. The third phase, CORE, is held once a month at the Parish of Christ the King on Sundays from 2:00-4:00 PM. Meeting dates vary for CORE.

This ministry is a one-couple to one-couple marriage preparation option available to engaged couples seeking the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at the Parish of Christ the King.  A husband and wife team meets with the engaged couple for a series of evenings to share their day to day personal experiences of Christian marriage. These meetings, at the home of the sponsor couple, aim to create a personal relationship between the two couples as they go through the steps of the program together.  The sponsor couples meet with the priest once a year to renew their commitment to the program.
